Meet the Artist

© Wayne Garber 2014Grew up in Bladensburg, MD (NE of D.C.)

Took every art class offered in grade and high school .

Joined the US navy after graduating high school (1967) and served in Vietnam in 1968-69 and 71, Honorably discharged as an electrician’s mate second class in 1971.

After being discharged , returned to Bladensburg and started attending classes at Prince George Community College (later to be Prince George College) with a concentration in Biology, but took several art and sculpture classes. After receiving an AS from PGGC, transferred to the University of Maryland and continued in the marine sciences and art for three semesters, before attending Florida Institute of Technology, Jensen Beach Campus in 1977 and graduating with a BS in Aquaculture in 1979. Remained in the Jensen Beach area to the present working as an electrician and receiving a Masters Electrician s License in 1984.

Love of art and the marine environment is reflected in his work. Pointillism became a favorite technique as far back as 10th grade, which continues today.

Prefers pen and ink, colored pencils and watercolor.
